Thinkscape Insights: Who Will Win This Year’s Super Bowl?

With the NFL opening game kicking off today, now is the time to lock in predictions about the upcoming season. So the research team at Unanimous AI assembled a representative group of NFL fans and used Thinkscape to harness and amplify their collective intelligence regarding the upcoming season.

Invited into Thinkscape, this random sample of 48 NFL fans was tasked with discussing and debating which teams were most likely to win the AFC and NFC Championships this year and which would ultimately the Super Bowl. We also asked them to collectively predict which playoff teams from last year will NOT make it this year.

Thinkscape is an AI-powered online platform that enables large groups (up to 400 people) to hold productive real-time conversations about any topic and quickly converge on insights that amplify their collective intelligence. It’s used by companies big and small for collective forecasting and decisions-making, and by market research firms for generating quantitative insights with the statistical repeatability of large-scale polls and surveys.

To quickly generate NFL forecasts, we first asked this group who would win the AFC & NFC championships and then which of those would win the Super Bowl. Perhaps not surpisingly, they picked both of last year’s winners — the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs — to repeat this season. They also picked the Chiefs to repeat as Super Bowl Champs. Here’s a video summary of WHY they picked the Chiefs.

While their Super Bowl picks were not controversial, their answer to the next question was a little more perilous. Every year, there are a few teams that made the playoffs the previous year that don’t make it. So we asked the group which ones it will be this year.

According to our group, the most likely to fall short this year is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This seems like a smart pick, as the Bucs were only 9-8 last year and play in a division with the Atlanta Falcons, who many think are much improved. Here’s a video summary of WHY Tampa Bay.

But besides the Buccaneers, who are the next few teams likely to fall short? This is where the group’s collective sentiment gets a little more interesting, as they selected the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7 in 2023), Cleveland Browns (11-6), and Dallas Cowboys (12-5). While any of the three could in fact stumble, these picks will surely raise some eyebrows in NFL circles. The storied Steelers? And the Cowboys (aka America’s team)? See chart for details.

Q: Which 2023 playoff team is MOST LIKELY to miss the playoffs in 2024?
